On a clear Sunday afternoon, with the sun out and the wind blowing,uo to twenty five miles per hour, sixty plus race cars showed up at the new race track at Cherokee Speedway in Gaffney S.C.for practice.Stock fours, super stock were the most to show up.Freddie Smith from Knoxville,Tnn;Mike Duvall,Gaffney S.C. Billy "The Kid"Thompson,Kevin Tesner,Ken Petera, and a few more showed in the late models. The track was fast, but soon dryed out and gave way to a slick dry track. The best times were 16.30 by Freddie Smith in the 00 car.
Fans in the stands all got up money for a twenty lap shoot out in the super stock class, and it was won by Jerry Oliver,in the all red #51 car.Winning pay for Jerry was $665.00.Not bad to come to a track to practice and go home with that much money. Thanks to all the fans that gave.Next Sunday they will hold practice once again.Mack
